Wilson Three BLX Offered for your consideration here is a Wilson Three BLX tennis racquet. The BLX series is Wilson's top-of-the-line series. "BL" stands for basalt, and "X" stands for the addition of basalt to 9 other Wilson technologies for a total of 10 different techs used in the line (I+IX=X). All 10 are not used in any one frame, so it's really special, and expensive! I bought this racquet on September 17, for $206.10 from Midwest, when it was on sale there. The racquet is still the current model, and usually sells for $229.00 at the large online retailers, considerably more at the pro shop in your neighborhood. The Three BLX is a powerful and luxurious, very comfortable racquet, which derives from Wilson's time-tested Triad Technology. This technology separates the racquet's hoop from the handle and thus limits the shock and vibrations that reach the arm. The Three BLX also comes with Amplifeel 360 Technology, a feature that further enhances comfort and feel. This particular racquet comes in grip size 2, which translates to 4-1/4 inches, a very popular size. The Three BLX is a light racquet as well. Unstrung weight is only 9.1 ounces, and the large head size of 113 square inches provides a generous sweet spot. The racquet is ideally suited for a beginner who needs to improve his or her game, as well as an intermediate player who has health issues with shoulder, wrist, or elbow. On February 16, I had Tom Rohrbacher, the propriator of Ojai's tennis pro shop, restring the racquet with Wilson Sensation at 55 lbs. The racquet has only been used for a few hours after that as I switched to a Wilson Wilson Five 103 (BLX) in March. A new Wilson grip was installed a few days ago. It's unused. I'd conservatively rate the racquet as a 9 out of a possible 10.
