Terrific Rare Full Cork Grip Vintage Wood 1920 Harry C Lee Harkness Tennis Racket Yu don't see too many of these: first full cork grip racket I've ever had. CLASSIC antique nice old early wood wooden racquet with the rare cork grip, rich wood tones & crisp clean decals. NOTE: Just in time for Wimbledon. Part of a group of 9 rackets I just found. I will list one racket a day between June 16 and June 24. Will combine items for reduced postage for multiple purchases. MODEL: 1920 H C Lee (New York maker) “HARKNESS” HEAD: Classic period oval; Stock is square at the shoulders and rounded as it goes around the head WARPING: none FRAME: excellent condition; MUCH LESS than expected wear to the top of the head THROAT WEDGE: convex solid mahogany wedge laminated in place in the style of the period STRINGS: as shown with only the one break; also with added sweet spot stringing as shown: looks like original lamb gut. BANDING: The six original silk cord bands are all in place; minor TLC needed on a couple of the strings DECALS: As shown; megaphone style decal typical of 1920; fabulous excellent condition GRIP: It’s CORK; a large 4 3/4 inches; pre-dates leather wrap grip material STAMPS: 13 OZ at the neck as shown WEIGHT: weighs 12.6 ounces actual weight END CAP: leather strip intact with minor wear; end cap as shown Postage will be based on 3.5 pounds of packed weight.
