1910's A. J. REACH "NEWPORT" Antique TENNIS RACKET Racquet
w/ Double Stringing in Center
Made in Philadelphia in the 1910's, this antique wooden racket by the A. J. Reach Sporting Goods Company is in great condition. It has a straight frame with no discernible bows, twists, or repairs. The double strung gut strings are intact and possibly still playable -- nice spring and sound to them when tapped against my palm. Both "Newport" and "Reach" logos on the throat are in good shape. The finish does show some craquelure effect overall with some stains and loses here and there but it's still in overall good condition (see photos). Additionally, the handle has some soiling, stains, and a missing Butt Plate Label.This would make an ideal addition to any antique racket collection. It's perfect for the classic lawn tennis enthusiast needing period equipment to go with their vintage apparel.Approximate Racket Dimensions 27" Long x 8-3/4" Wide
