the Wilson Steam 99 S is an absolute spin machine! This is a direct result of Wilson's Spin Effect Technology, which uses a super open 16x15 string pattern to enable the main strings to slide out of position and then snapback with maximum force to add new levels of spin to the ball. According to our TW playtesters, the concept works. The increased spin is undeniable, and it causes the ball to dive very sharply and explode off the court. In addition to extreme spin, Wilson cleans up some of the excess vibrations with its Amplifeel 360 technology. Factor in the Spin Effect string pattern and the result is a comfortable and lively feel. Our TW playtesters found it easy to keep their opponents on defense with deep and heavy shots. With its higher swingweight (333 RDC), there is enough heft to keep the racquet steady against pace. This comes in handy on volleys where there is minimal twisting on contact. We found decent maneuverability at net and surprisingly good directional control plus lots of power, making this racquet a good all-court option. On serves there is exceptional power and impressive action on slice and topspin shots.
