The result is a racquet whose hoop flexes more at impact, giving it slightly better feel and ball pocketing than the previous version. Wilson also expands the sweetspot with its Parallel Drilling. This technology reduces the friction between string and racquet in key areas of the frame so the strings can absorb more shock. From the baseline the 98S rewards big swings with penetrating depth and explosive spin. Our playtest team was impressed by how rapidly this 11 ounce racquet accelerated through contact, a feature that comes in handy when trying to crank forehand winners on the dead run.
