Gorgeous Vintage Wood 1900 Horsman “SPECIAL” New York Tennis Racket Unusual Maker Excellent CLASSIC Antique nice old early wood wooden racquet from hard to find maker. The grip is almost a rectangle and this logo pre-dates the famous “horse-man” centaur logo NOTE: Part of a group of 13 rackets. I will list two rackets a day between February 9 and February 14. Will combine items for much reduced postage for multiple purchases. MODEL: 1900 Horsman SPECIAL HEAD: Classic period oval or tear drop (teardrop); Stock is square at the shoulders and all the way around the head WARPING: none FRAME: excellent condition; much less than expected wear to the top of the head; retains old soft glow finish and some of the white washed paint finish at the top of the head at the “SPECIAL” mark THROAT WEDGE: convex one-piece wedge that was common before 1905 STRINGS: very thick gauge as shown: look like original lamb gut. BANDING: none; racket pre-dates banding material DECALS: As shown; beautiful excellent condition GRIP: 4 3/8 inches; pre-dates grip material; very fine shallow grooves: NOTE: this very unusual grip handle is more rectangle than octagon; facets are rounded instead on angled STAMPS: Oriental Gut and 13 OZ. at the top of the grip; the model name (SPECIAL) is stamped into the frame as shown (not a decal) WEIGHT: weighs 12.3 ounces actual weight END CAP: leather strip is like new -- amazing; end cap as shown and is also in fabulous condition Postage will be based on 2.5 pounds of packed weight.
