When you hit the ball, the typical racquet bends primarily at the throat—some more than others, depending on the thickness of the frame. This diminishes power and causes the ball to leave the strings at a slightly askew angle. Head says the solution is to create new flex points by carving out dimples and drilling holes in the head, at the 3 and 9 o’clock positions, so it will cup the ball before the throat has a chance to reduce the effectiveness of your shots. The Flexpoints are particularly effective in the head-light Mid-Plus, which rewards medium-length strokes with consistent results. If you take a full swing, it will increase your odds of hitting a winner—and making an error. With the oversize, the shorter the stroke, the better the shot. Control is fair, and though the head-heavy balance makes the frame tough to maneuver, it also means it will do most of the work for you.
