Vintage Wood 1920 Spalding ? Indian Decal Vantage Tennis Racket Classic antique old early wood wooden racquet with a great Native American logo. Possibly made by Spalding (Jeanne Cherry, p. 94); markings on the shaft and grip also resemble Spalding markings NOTE: Part of a group of 12 rackets fresh to the market. I will list two rackets a day between March 21 and March 26. Will combine items for much reduced postage for multiple purchases. MODEL: 1920 VANTAGE with Native American logo HEAD: Classic period elongated oval; stock is square at the shoulders and rounded as it goes around the top of the head WARPING: none FRAME: soft mellow glow finish; much less than expected wear to the top of the head THROAT WEDGE: Concave and laminated in place in the style of the period STRINGS: intact original lamb gut as shown BANDING: original silk bands in intact condition with some wear DECALS: As shown GRIP: shallow grooves; 4 ½ inches; pre-dates grip material STAMPS: incised 2nd CC 54; (the CC marking appears on many Spalding rackets); stamped in ink with 13 on the grip (not shown) WEIGHT: weighs 13.1 ounces actual weight END CAP: beautiful excellent intact BLUE leather strip; matching color end cap as shown Postage will be based on 3.5 pounds of packed weight.
