Ellsworth Vines wood photo decal racquets from the 1930s. has the wear of 80 years on it, but in my view still a wonderful racquet to collect.Ellsworth Vines is perhaps the best "unknown" player of all time, considered one of the two best players of his era -- the 1930s -- along with Don Budge. He was a tall, rangy, powerful player who inspired the great Jack Kramer to take up tennis. Kramer said of seeing Vines play, "And here is Ellsworth Vines, 6' 2 1/2" tall, 155 pounds, dressed like Fred Astaire and hitting shots like Babe Ruth." He was a stylish and natural athlete who at one point had a basketball scholarship to Southern Cal. After he retired from tennis, he became a professional golfer, twice finishing in the top 10 in earnings for a seasThe Vines Personal Model, one of Wilson's Famous Players Series, is solid and substantial, with all the graphics and decorative bands, The grip is in excellent shape.
