Vintage Excellent Wood 1910 S D & G MANHATTAN New York Rare Tennis Racket Antique clean nice old early wood wooden racquet from unlisted maker; large grip and very heavy weightNOTE: Part of a group of 12 rackets fresh to the market. I have listed two rackets a day between May 27 and June 1.  Will combine items for much reduced postage for multiple purchases.MODEL: 1920 S D & G MANHATTAN: made for and sold by Schoverling, Daly & Gales, a NYC sporting goods and gun store in operation from about 1890 – late 1920s.  Their catalogs turn up from time to time.HEAD: Classic period oval; stock is square and chamfered as it goes around the top of head WARPING: noneFRAME: excellent condition; retains bright slightly crackled finish on the shaft and up around the headTHROAT WEDGE:  Convex and one piece of wood in the style of the periodSTRINGS: super: looks like original thick lamb gut with only one breakBANDING: none: pre-dates bandingDECALS: Excellent as shownGRIP: 4 7/8 inches with shallow grooves; never had grip materialSTAMPS:  shaft is stamped   H   on one side and   L  as shown:  probably means  HEAVY  and  LARGE WEIGHT: weighs 15.3 ounces actual weight; this is probably the heaviest racket I’ve ever had… it’s a BEASTEND CAP: leather strip about 99% intact with the only loss as shown; end cap as shown Postage will be based on 3.5 pounds of packed weight.  International buyer: please wait for the invoice.  International shipping: Approximately $45 for one racket; $4 for each additional racket in the same box.Last racket in this collection will be listed on June 1
